Rules Approves Guidelines for Santa Cruz Heritage Act

WASHINGTON – The House Rules Committee met this afternoon and approved a closed rule for consideration of H.R. 324, Santa Cruz National Heritage Area Act. The rule provides for one hour of debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Natural Resources. The rule provides one motion to recommit with or without instructions.

“The Santa Cruz Valley is one of 's longest-inhabited regions, with traces of human occupation extending back more than 12,000 years.  Designation of the Santa Cruz Valley as a National Heritage Area will ensure that local officials have the necessary resources to educate the public about the Valley’s rich history,” said Slaughter, Chairwoman of the House Rules Committee.
