H.R. 6049 Ways and Means
Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008
The Committee granted, by a voice vote, a rule providing for consideration of H.R. 6049, the Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008. The rule provides one hour of general debate equally divided and controlled by the chairman and ranking minority member of the Committee on Ways and Means. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill except clauses 9 and 10 of Rule XXI. The rule provides that the amendment in the nature of a substitute recommended by the Committee on Ways and Means now printed in the bill shall be considered as adopted and the bill, as amended, shall be considered as read. All points of order against provisions of the bill, as amended, are waived.
The rule provides one motion to recommit with or without instructions. The rule provides that, notwithstanding the operation of the previous question, the Chair may postpone further consideration of the bill to a time designated by the Speaker.
H.R. 5658 Armed Services
Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009
The Committee granted, by a voice vote, a rule providing for consideration of H.R. 5658, the “Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009.” The rule provides for two hours of general debate equally divided and controlled by the chairman and ranking minority member of the Committee on Armed Services.
The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill except those arising under clause 9 or 10 of rule XXI. The rule provides that the Committee of the Whole shall rise without motion after general debate. Finally, the rule prohibits further consideration of the bill except pursuant to a subsequent order of the House.
S.Con.Res. 70 Budget
Conference Report on Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2009
The Committee granted, by voice vote, a rule that waives all points of order against the conference report to accompany S. Con. Res. 70, setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2009 and including the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2008 and 2010 through 2013, and against its consideration. The rule provides that the conference report shall be considered as read. The rule provides one hour of debate on the conference report, equally divided and controlled by the chairman and ranking minority member of the Committee on the Budget.
